Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Preview - Xbox 360 Preview at IGN

E3 2010: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Preview - Xbox 360 Preview at IGN

It's been ten years since Marvel vs. Capcom 2 hit the Dreamcast. Finally, one of the best 2D fighters of all time is getting a sequel. The characters in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 may be polygonal, but the fundamentals of the game haven't changed. It's your three chosen characters against an opponent's in a tag-team match on a 2D plane. You can call in for an assist from one of your reserves, unleash powerful special moves specific to your character--pretty much everything you could do in MVC2.

The most notable change is the addition of a launcher button. In MVC2, each character had specific moves that would launch an opponent into the air where they could follow up for more attacks. That's been simplified to a single button so that every character has the same ability to send an opponent airborne. Once your enemy is in the air, you can choose to strike how you see fit.

If you want, you can continue the launcher chain. Hit the launch button in any direction--up to knock them higher, left or right for side attacks, or down to throw them to the ground. If you're launched in the air, you can counter the follow-up by copying your opponent's next move. Basically, it's a guessing game. If you think they will try and knock you up a second time, hit up and the launch button to evade and break the combo. Just be careful. Your opponent could still set you up for a special or super move in the air or even tag out to bring in another character to continue the combo.

Dexter "Mr. Net" Net says Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will be the hottest game for Xbox yet!!!
